Arlington, Washington-based According to Eviation, Miami-based air charter company GlobalX has signed a letter of intent to purchase 50 of the company's all-electric Alice commuter planes.

According to a news release from Eviation today, the nine-person aircraft will open up new routes for passenger travel in Florida, the Bahamas, and the Caribbean, which are major markets for GlobalX.

"The Alice aircraft is the first stage in our initiative to be a zero-carbon emissions, and it will enable us to provide sustainable regional flights to and from important markets.

Gregory Davis, president of Eviation, praised GlobalX for its "commitment to cleaner skies, lower operational costs, and the supply of the most cutting-edge solutions for air travel.

GlobalX, also known as Global Crossing Airlines, started carrying passengers a year ago. At the moment, it runs seven Airbus A350-class aircraft that go to the Caribbean,

The company also has 15 A321 freighters on lease, and before the end of the year, cargo operations are expected to start. GlobalX expects to receive its first Alice aircraft in 2027.
